strong>Awareness and Education
Ben established a foundation in 2009 dedicated to a simple goal — sharing his story as a holocaust survivor to spread awareness. Established Holocaust memorial days offer an excellent opportunity to spread awareness of what was one of the darkest periods in human history. The Foundation Ben established offers many resources and educational courses, such as:
- An 8 part curriculum featuring stories of his personal experiences
- Interactive AI Story File, that answers your questions in real time
- Interactive Timelines covering both Ben’s personal experiences and the events as a whole
- Video Interviews – presented by Ben and other survivors
- A book telling his experiences during and after the Holocaust, Living a Life That Matters.
- And much more
The Foundation’s Approach
Through interactive lesson plans, the use of multimedia platforms, activities, and updates, the Foundation engages students and participants of the other resources to embrace a future where the hate that gave rise to the Holocaust is less likely to take root again.
To Teachers of the Holocaust
Educating about the holocaust is a complex time in history and can be a sensitive topic difficult to teach. Suggestions for preparing educators include:
- Expect no simple answers
- Perspectives need to be balanced and transparent
- Lessons are learned in context
- People learn best through stories rather than data
